Companies stepping up advertising to share important matters
Back in November of last year, Iceland planned on releasing a Christmas Advert which ended up being banned. The advert featured a short film featuring the devastating effects of palm tree plantation and set about looking at how to remove it from the products on our plates. The advert has now been viewed over 70 million times around the world. The reason the advert was said to have been banned due to the political issues around it. With adverts such as this one, companies are opening our eyes to the future.
With more companies talking about what matters Coca-Cola took a step in the right direction by running a new sustainability campaign. Which encourages action to be taken and will be shared within Recycling Week. They also plan to turn the London eye green. The company have been at the forefront of the industry and are trying to make changes within their own products to make them as sustainable as possible. Starbucks wins £1m from Channel 4’s diversity competition
Channel 4 has an annual diversity in advertising aware, in which the winner will win £1m of free advertising from the channel. This year the participants were set to challenge stereotypes around the LGBT+ community. As well as highlighting a lack of diversity in the advertising world. Not only do we love Channel 4 for annually running this contest but the fact big brands are willing to stand up and make changes. To view the full spec around the campaign, head over to the Channel 4 website.
The campaign for Starbucks is expected to launch in February and we can’t wait to see it.
Skyscanner- a new way to take off?
On the topic of sustainability and saving the planet Skyscanner has also begun big changes within their company with a new logo which was unveiled to the public today. With the brand looking to take on a bold mission next year and work more towards sustainable travel. We look forward to seeing what Skyscanner has planned in the near future.
What a saga…
The travel and insurance company called Saga for over 50’s has landed themselves in a bit of hot water this week when they sent out brochures to their customers which advertised a cruise- exclusively for Brits. Although the company has publically apologised since. A lot of its customers were shocked by the marketing material. Advising that it was an advertising fail and they wouldn’t want to go on a cruise where not all nationalities as accepted.
